In my Graphic Design 2 class, one of the projects we were handed was redesigning the posters for the Wisconsin Space Grant Consortium associated with Carthage College and other schools in the state. As a class, we worked together to create a moodboard that gave off the retro and space feeling that excites students to participate in the program seen in the posters. Along with those in mind, we also had to follow Carthage's brand guidelines, which is why you see a lot of blues and reds.

For my poster, I chose the Collegiate Rocket Competition to redesign. I knew I wanted to have a spaceship as the central image to attract those who would be interested. Using three or four primary school colors, the poster heavily leans into the brand guidelines. My idea for this program was to create a story about a rocket being sent off on a mission to another world. The first indication is the smoke being alluded to as the poster's border. The second detail that can be seen is the planet in the bottom left corner. I have included all the essential information that students need to know about the program on the left side of the spaceship as their eye would be attracted to the left second.

I was also tasked with creating social media material for the program to inform students of the application deadline. These Instagram posts are where the story of a space mission can be seen more. In the announcement of opportunity post, the rocket is launching into space. In the reminder post, the spaceship is flying through the stars. And finally, in the last chance post, the spacecraft has reached the planet.

Another piece of collateral I made was a postcard that the WSGC could send out to those interested in applying to the program. Much of the information was removed to make the prominent info larger. The front of the postcard has the design I created, while the back has a spot for the student's addresses and a QR code that takes you to the website.

The last piece of media I designed was an email. For this, I kept in mind that the viewer would have to be involved from top to bottom. Therefore, when you open the email, the rocket is the image that leads your eye further down. The smoke also leads into the next part of the email, which is the program's purpose. An image of a past student is included at the bottom of the email to give more insight into the program.
